I made a sculpture and a series of rubbings from a carved woodblock. The ship was meant to look something like the Santa Maria, Columbus' flag ship. I was thinking about the ultimate fate of the Santa Maria. After running ashore in Haiti, she was disasembled and her timbers were used to build a fortress; the first Spanish settlement in the New World. Materials: Paper, wood, resin
