High Desert Test Sites 3 Joshua Tree, California 2003

The second year that I participated in Andrea Zittel’s High Desert Test Sites, I made a small river diorama that encircled a boulder. The rock belongs to Garth. He lives in a cement teepee up at the top of God’s Way Road. He tends an intricate garden with winding paths, brightly colored pheasants, and various curiosities, all overlooking some of the most beautiful landscape in the world.
