Madrid

In February I was invited By Narthan Carter to participate in a show at Pilar Parra gallery in Madrid.

I made a sculpture and a series of rubbings from a carved woodblock.

The sculpture was made out of the woodblock.

It was meant to look something like a figurehead on a ship.

And the ship was meant to look something like the Santa Maria, Columbus' flag ship.

When I cut up the woodblock to make the figurehead,

I was thinking about the ultimate fate of the Santa Maria.
