"The artist must use every available space."

Alfredo Jaar

Early in the morning, on September 25th, Lan Tuazon, Duke Riley and Marie Lorenz launched an invasion of Robert Smithsonıs posthumous public art project, the Floating Island. The culmination of months of planning and reconnaissance, our plan was to stow away and ride the Smithson barge around Manhattan. Although we made landfall, we were quickly spotted by the Coastguard, gave chase, and were captured. These pictures tell the story of our brief occupation of the Floating Island.
